Alert:
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR NORTH AND WEST FACING SHORES OF NIIHAU KAUAI OAHU AND MOLOKAI AND FOR NORTH FACING SHORES OF MAUI...

.A building west-northwest swell will produce advisory level surf along exposed north and west facing shores until Sunday evening.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST SUNDAY...

* WHAT...Surf heights along north facing shores of Niihau, Kauai and Oahu are expected to range from 12 to 16 feet this morning, building to 18 to 24 feet by this afternoon. North facing shores of Molokai and Maui will also see increasing trends into the advisory range. Surf heights along west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai and Oahu are expected to range from 8 to 12 feet this morning, building to 12 to 26 feet by this afternoon. West facing shores of Molokai will also see increasing trends into the advisory range.

* WHERE...North and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, and Molokai, and for north facing shores of Maui.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Sunday.

* IMPACTS...Moderate. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Notes (optional):

A High Surf Advisory is issued when waves reach threshold criteria for a particular island and shoreline.

Warning Instruction:
Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.

If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
