Flood Advisory


Effective: Tuesday, May 4, 2021 - 4:30pm to 7:30pm

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for... The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until 730 PM HST.

* At 430 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over ths southwest slopes of Haleakala on Maui. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Ulupalakua, Makena, Wailea, Keokea and Kula. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 730 PM HST if flooding persists.
Notes (optional):

A Flood Advisory, previously called an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory, means nuisance flooding is occurring or imminent.

Warning Instruction:
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.

If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
