High Surf Advisory
Effective: Tuesday, February 13, 2018 - 3:10pm to Wednesday, February 14, 2018 - 6:00pm
.A building west-northwest swell is producing advisory level surf for the north and west facing shores of Niihau and Kauai. This swell should peak Wednesday morning and diminish through the afternoon.
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST WEDNESDAY... The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Advisory, which is in effect until 6 PM HST Wednesday.
* SURF...Along north and west facing shores of Niihau and Kauai, 14 to 18 feet.
* TIMING...Through 6 PM HST Wednesday
* IMPACTS...Moderate...Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
A High Surf Advisory is issued when waves reach threshold criteria for a particular island and shoreline.
Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.
If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
