.Strong high pressure north of the islands will produce windy conditions across Lanai, Kahoolawe, as well as over and downwind of the Kohala mountains on the Big Island through this afternoon. Strong winds are also expected across the Big Island Summits today. Note that the strong winds are not expected in and around Hilo.
...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING...
* TIMING...Through this afternoon.
* WINDS...Northeast 20 to 25 mph with localized gusts over 50 mph. Winds will be strongest over ridges and through passes of the North and South Kohala districts, and over the higher terrain on Lanai and Kahoolawe.
* IMPACTS...Winds this strong can cause tree limbs to break, potentially leading to localized power outages. Driving may be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph and/or frequent gusts to 50 mph or greater are occurring or imminent.
Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.
