High Surf Advisory

Effective: Thursday, February 13, 2020 - 3:34pm to Friday, February 14, 2020 - 6:00am

Alert:
...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES...

.The current east swell is on a steady decline and will continue to lower through tonight. Surf is expected to drop to borderline advisory levels on Friday.

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Surf 8 to 12 feet lowering to 6 to 10 feet tonight.

* WHERE...East facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and Big Island.

* WHEN...Until 6 AM HST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Moderate. Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult and dangerous.
Notes (optional):

A High Surf Advisory is issued when waves reach threshold criteria for a particular island and shoreline.

Instruction:
Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.

If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
