Alert:
...HIGH SURF WARNING FOR NORTH AND WEST FACING SHORES OF KAUAI NIIHAU OAHU AND MOLOKAI AND FOR NORTH FACING SHORES OF MAUI...

...HIGH SURF WARNING FOR WEST FACING SHORES OF THE BIG ISLAND...

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR NORTH FACING SHORES OF THE BIG ISLAND...

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR WEST FACING SHORES OF LANAI MAUI AND KAHOOLAWE...

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR SOUTH FACING SHORES OF OAHU MOLOKAI LANAI MAUI AND KAHOOLAWE...

.Life-threatening surf will continue through early Monday as a storm-force low pressure system passes just north of the islands. The duration of this event will lead to significant beach erosion that could result in property damage along the immediate north and west facing shores. Overwash onto vulnerable roadways will remain possible through tonight, especially around the high tide cycles. Strong currents and surges in the exposed harbors will be capable of damaging boats and infrastructure due to the jostling of docks. Hazardous surf is also occurring along south facing shores of Oahu and Maui County due to the strong- to gale-force westerly winds. Surf along south facing shores will quickly trend down late tonight as the winds shift out of the north.

...HIGH SURF WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST MONDAY...

* SURF...40 to 60 feet through tonight along north and west facing shores of Niihau and Kauai, and north facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui. 30 to 40 feet through tonight along exposed west facing shores of Oahu and Molokai.

* TIMING...Through Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...Extreme...Expect ocean water surging and sweeping over beaches, coastal benches, and roadways, creating the potential for significant damage to coastal properties and infrastructure, including roadways. Coastal evacuations and road closures are possible. Large breaking waves may affect harbor entrances and channels with significant damage possible to docks, piers, ramps, and boats.
Description:

A High Surf Warning is issued when waves reach threshold criteria for a particular island and shoreline. High Surf Warnings may be issued up to 24 hours ahead of the arrival of the swell and may remain in effect for several days.

Instruction:
These dangerous conditions mean that only highly experienced persons should enter the water. Inexperienced persons should remain off beaches and adjacent beachfront areas. Large breaking surf, significant shorebreak, and dangerous currents make entering the water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water could face significant injury or death.

Unmonitored lands and waters in the impact area described in the alert will also be impacted.

If conditions change before expiration or the event needs to be extended, an update or cancellation will be issued from Hawaii Beach Safety Website.
